June 17th Hierarchy of Controls

Safety Activity: Watch this 3 minute video on the Hierarchy of Controls

Safety Topic: Administrative Controls: Are procedures for safe work methods that reduce the duration, frequency, or severity of exposure to a hazard. Administrative controls include gradual introduction to work, regular recovery pauses, job rotation, job design and maintenance and housekeeping. One example would be redesigning a job that normally requires two hours of continuous handling, to include a five-minute recovery period (performing housekeeping duties with little or no manual handling) for every 15 minutes of continuous handling.

June 10th Equipment Safety

Safety Activity:  Choose one piece of company equipment and review the manufacturer's safety rules.  Focus on pinch points, caught in between, struck by, electrocution, and fall hazards associated with the piece of machinery.

Alternate Class: Show how to safely handle LPG tanks.

Supervisor: Choose key equipment and review safety features and requirements.
